Bio

Daehyeok Kim is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin. He co-leads the UT Networked Systems Research Group and is also a member of the Wireless Networking and Communications Group and 6G@UT. He is a co-PI of the LDOS NSF Expeditions in Computing project.

His research focuses on systems and abstractions for virtualized, programmable, and heterogeneous computing infrastructures, addressing challenges in programming, resilience, security, and resource management. His work has been recognized by the NSF CAREER Award and the Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship.

Daehyeok received his PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, advised by Vyas Sekar and Srinivasan Seshan. His dissertation introduced new abstractions and runtime systems for elastic and resilient in-network computing. He received his BS and MS in Computer Science and Engineering from POSTECH, South Korea. Prior to joining UT Austin, he was a Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research Redmond.
